Operations consulting in Phoenix
Berlin Management Group delivers operations improvement that stays through implementation. BMG is based in Phoenix and can work with businesses across the Valley in person or with organizations nationally. If your operation is losing time, margin, or capacity to how the work currently gets done, that is the problem we fix.
Talk through an operating problemDiagnosis through implementation
The work runs one way regardless of industry: a thirty-minute conversation about one operating problem, a fixed-fee Operations Diagnostic that finds where the operation is losing time, margin, and capacity and what each finding costs, then bounded Fix Sprints that implement the highest-priority changes with a baseline before and the agreed measurement after. How it works · what the Diagnostic covers.
Phoenix businesses we fit
BMG works with businesses at three levels of operating complexity, in the Valley and nationally. Main Street businesses: owner-led companies, generally between approximately $5 million and $25 million in annual revenue, where growth has added complexity faster than the operating systems could keep up. Middle-market companies: established organizations, often between approximately $25 million and $1 billion, with multiple teams, locations, systems, or cross-functional dependencies. Enterprise teams: large organizations, often above $1 billion, where the problem sits within one business unit, workflow, customer journey, or initiative. Revenue is a guide, not the only qualification; the right fit depends on a defined operating problem with measurable economic value.
Industry matters less than operational complexity: contractors and trades, field services, property management, distribution, professional services, and other businesses that run on jobs, documents, schedules, and handoffs. Contractors · Home services · Property management.
In construction and the trades, the operating problems have a distinctly Phoenix shape: bid volume that outruns estimating capacity, field-to-office handoffs, and job data that never becomes reusable knowledge. Local, with a national operating record
Brad Berlin is Phoenix-based, with more than 20 years of operating experience across growing businesses, venture-stage companies, and enterprise consulting engagements. The full record.
Engagements run in person across metro Phoenix, from the central corridor to Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, and Peoria, and remotely for organizations elsewhere in Arizona and nationally. The first conversation is the same either way: thirty minutes on one operating problem.
When being in the Valley matters, and when it does not
Most of this work does not require anyone to be in the room. Some of it is meaningfully better when someone is. It is worth being specific about which is which before you decide that a local firm is the requirement.
Where in-person time earns its place
Watching the work as it actually happens. Standing at the counter while the calls come in, riding along on a service route, sitting with an estimator through a real bid, walking a yard or a job site. Observing the physical operation, and the unscripted conversations around it, is the part of a Diagnostic that video does not fully replace. In-person time also earns its place at two other moments: the findings readout, where conclusions get argued in front of the people who will own them, and the first weeks of a Fix Sprint, when a new workflow is being adopted and small objections decide whether it sticks.
Where remote delivery is equal or better
Most of a Diagnostic is systems, documents, and data: how a record moves, where the same information is entered twice, how long each handoff waits, and what the delay costs. That work happens inside your systems, and it runs identically from anywhere. Interviews, working sessions, design reviews, and measurement check-ins run on video without losing anything, and remote scheduling usually gets more of the right people into the session than travel does. Nationally delivered engagements carry the same fixed scope, the same fixed fee, and the same measurement as Valley engagements. The difference is travel, not method.
Phoenix is the base, not the boundary
BMG is based in Phoenix and works with businesses nationwide. Locally that means in-person availability across metro Phoenix, from the central corridor to Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, and Peoria. Elsewhere it means the same engagement delivered remotely, with on-site time added only where the operating problem genuinely calls for it. Neither is a lesser version of the other. For the industry where that national work runs deepest, see operations improvement for logistics and supply chain teams.
